Aro Eberle Architects was selected by Sugar River United Methodist Church to help them with a challenging task: Convert an operational bowling alley into a church. Not only was this task challenging in a physical space reconfiguration exercise, it was also a political challenge to convince the City that bringing a non-profit organization downtown would provide greater value than the lost tax revenue.
Construction has begun on this 26,000 s.f. foot facility that will eventually house new worship, fellowship, administrative and educational spaces. Reuse of the bowling lane material was a priority, and that material will be used to create a dramatic new chancel.
